Every saint has a past and every sinner has a future.

“We do not grow absolutely, chronologically. We grow sometimes in one dimension, and not in another; unevenly. We grow partially. We are relative. We are mature in one realm, childish in another. The past, present, and the future mingle and pull us backward, forward, or fix us in the present. We are made up of layers, cells, constellations.”
~Anais Nin

Respect is not about the other person. It is not about whether someone “deserves” respect. The deepest respect is offered to life itself, and the greater gift is to respect when it is most difficult to do so. Respect is about us. Respect is in us. Or not. We either practice a commitment to respect others, or we allow ourselves to fall into judgment followed by disrespect for others.
Selective respect, or awarding respect to others on an individual basis based on behavior, is not respect at all. Respecting some people and not others is actually judgment couched in the term “respect”. The will and ability to feel and give respect to others lies within us. Or not. Respect is not a favor which must be earned by its recipient, it is a gift which we either give to or withhold from our fellow human beings.

We are self-healing. Our body, mind and spirit heal once we take care of the ground we are growing in, and the ground we are growing in is ourself.

Each person we meet is a portal into an entirely different world, just as each one of us live in a world of our own. The opportunity to become aware of worlds outside our own exists the moment we step into communication with another human being.
